Based in Copenhagen, Brian has 20 years’ experience working in conservation with the Irish Government and at the European, and Global level. Following five years working for the Irish government, Brian then worked on the assessment of the conservation status of habitats and species in the EU and on protected areas in Europe. After this Brian moved to lead a team at UNEP-WCMC which tracked progress on protected areas towards the global Biodiversity Targets. Since 2018 Brian has worked at the European Environment Agency, initially as an expert on biodiversity information and on protected areas and since early 2021 as Head of Group where he covers the Biodiversity Strategy and Global Biodiversity Framework.
