Ciarán is co-chair of the European Green Party. He served as a Member of the European Parliament from 2019-2024, and sat on the Transport and Energy committees. He was the Parliament’s lead negotiator for the recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive that legislates for the decarbonisation of the EU’s building stock. He sits on the board of Building Performance Institute Europe. Ciarán served as President of EUFORES, a European cross-party interparliamentary network that promotes renewable energy and energy efficiency. He holds degrees in architecture and urban planning from University College Dublin and an MSc in Cities from the London School of Economics.
